How are donations put to work?

Donations Stay Local. Donations provide funding for crime prevention programs, safety and educational materials, seminars, and classes taught by police officers such as Dare, Officer Friendly, and Citizen Academy. Donations fund Youth Programs, Police Citizen Academy, National Night Out, Night to Unite, Drug Take Back, Shop with a Cop, Police Chaplain programs, Police Reserve and Explorer programs, and many other events and activities within the scope of our Vision, Mission, and Philosophy.

How is the Crime Prevention Fund governed?

The Crime Prevention Fund has a Board of Directors who are volunteers and governed by Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Policies, and Procedures. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation the Crime Prevention Fund is NOT part of any government and PROHIBITED from political activity.  DONATIONS ARE DEDUCTIBLE TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW. 

 

Does the Crime Prevention Fund have Advisors? 

Yes, the Police Chiefs from our service area may be advisors. Currently, the Police Chiefs from the Minnetrista Public Safety Department and Orono Police Department are advisors to the Crime Prevention Fund Board of Directors. As Crime Prevention Fund Advisors they make recommendations to the Board of Directors, participate in discussions at board meetings, and may request non-budgeted financial support consistent with our vision, mission, and philosophy.
